A Case Study: A mom of 2 who is 6 months postpartum. She’s facing uncomfortable sciatica, feels weak in her core and her body aches from living the mom life

Client Profile:

  • I’ve known this client a long time and worked with her when she was postpartum with her first and pregnant with #2. I really want to help her with practical and efficient ways to feel good in her body

  • She has very little time to herself and to workout

  • She’s deeply living the parenting life - nursing, pumping, waking up at 5AM, carrying a 20lb baby in a carrier while walking the dog and pushing a stroller

  • We met for an online session

Presenting Traits:

  • She’s currently in physical therapy for sciatica where they primarily do clam shells and bridges

  • She’s stronger thru the front line of her body, weakness in the posterior chain (especially glutes)

  • Core is still rebuilding postpartum

  • Signs of the “mommy hump” - that upper-back rounding posture

  • Generally she’s giving so much of herself to others

THE DANAHER METHOD APPROACH TO THIS CLIENT:

In Our Session Together We:

  • Practiced diaphragmatic breath, which she is familiar with from TDM classes, but hasn’t had the time to practice on her own, the breath-work helped down-regulate her nervous system and access her transverse abdominals

  • Strengthen her glutes with attention to how deep core muscles function in relationship with a glutes and pelvis

  • Loosen up her hips, quads and glutes with myofascial release and stretches

Based on our session together I recommend:

  • She will join the online Body Organization class weekly which reinforces the myofascial release, glute strengthening and down-regulating of nervous system we that worked on in our session

  • Additionally, I recommended she take TDM online classes from the ‘Healthy Hips’ channel + a few classes for core & pelvic floor

These are the classes that I recommend for this client

  1. Any class from our 'Health Hips' Channel of Classes

:

  1. Breathwork with Glute & Pelvic Floor Release
