From time to time, I will talk about a client I work with and the Danaher Method approach I use with them.

Here's the Client Profile for this feature:

  • A female lawyer in her late 20s with high stress, jaw pain, and migraines.

Presenting Traits:

  • Migraines 2-3x month

  • TMJ, dentist recently prescribed mouth guard

  • Forward head posture and very tight in upper-traps, chest, shoulders

  • Hard for her to pick her head of from laying down (e.g. a nod & curl), her ribcage/thoracic spine is pretty locked up from work

  • Self described “weak butt” and tight thru hips, glutes also weak in these areas

  • Posture presents as pelvis thrusted forward, rounded shoulders.

THE DANAHER METHOD APPROACH TO THIS CLIENT:

In Our Session Together We:

  • Addressed her jaw and upper-trap tension via fascia release with yoga balls

  • Introduced her to Pilates movements for her spine and posture, lengthening and decompression is the goal.

  • It’s hard for her to pick her head up from supine (it hurts her neck) so we moved through ribcage & thoracic spine mobility.

  • Introduced her to a strength training routine that she can do 1x a week outside of our sessions - goal is to be consistent and slowly progress.

Based on our session together, I recommend:

  • We will meet 1x week and focus the session on mobility, fascia release & Pilates.

  • Then she will perform a strength training routine on her own that we will check in on every 3 weeks to make sure she feels good about the technique and to add progressions.

These are the classes that I recommend for this client:

1. Headache Relief: Release of upper trap & jaw

  1. Slider Weighted Strength for Upper & Lower-body: For posture & strength training
