2 Weeks Postpartum
Here on the TDM blog I'll be sharing learnings from my education, experience as a teaching and learnings from my own experience going thru postpartum recovery.
Childbirth is a f***ing WILD experience. While I feel like childbirth is by nature something that will blow your mind, my body felt very strong and prepared during labor. I was blessed to have a strong team (of all women + my husband) who made me feel safe the entire time.
We have been home from the hospital for a couple weeks and are settling in. He in a very sweet baby and my husband and I are enjoying this tender time.
In my recovery I have recorded some very gentle movement classes for 4th trimester recovery which I'm sharing below for when the body feels ready for that (make sure you listen to your body and medical team).
Here, 2 weeks postpartum are some key learnings:
Rest is the biggest priority. It's also seems to be the hardest to get.
360 breathing is the start of core rebuilding - 3 sets x 8 breaths daily done in different positions 1/ Side Lying 2/ Seated 3/Laying down. Doing this in different body positions will provide feedback on where the breath is going/not going.
Be patient.
Nursing muscles and/or the muscles used to pick up and hold the baby are working hard. Incorporate stretches, fascia releases and strengthening for the shoulders, chest and upper-back.
In our 4th Trimester channel on the library we have 6 classes to follow.
